Innover via le crowdsourcing : quel type de plateforme privilégier ?

Abstract

Popularisé par Jeff Howe en 2006 dans la revue Wired, le terme crowdsourcing (crowd = foule et sourcing = approvisionnement) est défini par Jean-Fabrice Lebraty comme étant « l'externalisation par une organisation, via un site Web, d'une activité auprès d'un grand nombre d'individus dont l'identité est le plus souvent anonyme ». Selon Howe, le crowdsourcing recouvre beaucoup d'activités différentes : il peut impliquer de la foule d'apporter son travail, sa créativité, ses idées, ses connaissances, son expérience ou bien encore son argent. Via Internet, des organisations marchandes ou non vont ainsi s'en remettre aux internautes pour qu'ils puissent les accompagner dans la résolution de problématiques qu'elles rencontrent. Citons deux exemples : en 2016, la Nasa lançait par l'intermédiaire de la plateforme HeroX « the Space Poop Challenge ». Le défi des internautes : trouver une solution à l'épineuse problématique des déjections des astronautes. Plus récemment, en avril 2020, l'UNESCO lançait une campagne intitulée #Dont go Viral afin de déployer des contenus éducatifs sur la Covid 19 auprès du continent africain. L'idée était d'inviter des designers, créateurs, artistes, entrepreneurs etc. à formuler, dans des dialectes locaux, des réponses pertinentes au manque d'informations sur la Covid 19. Tandis que le crowdsourcing trouve de nombreux champs d'application, beaucoup d'entreprises se posent la question du comment, c'est-à-dire par quel moyen mettre en oeuvre le crowdsourcing.
