La départementalisation de Mayotte : un premier bilan juridique et économique

Abstract

Au terme du long parcours ayant conduit à la départementalisation du 31 mars 2011 puis à la « rupéisation » (l'accès au statut européen de région ultrapériphérique) du 1er janvier 2014, l'île de Mayotte s'est retrouvée sur la ligne d'un nouveau départ. Cet ouvrage a pour objectif de présenter un panorama du « jeune » cadre juridique de ce territoire avant de faire état des retombées économiques attendues de ces transformations institutionnelles majeures. La situation économique et sociale fortement dégradée du 101e département laisse entrevoir à quel point la notion d'égalité réelle, pourtant au coeur des préoccupations politiques nationales et régionales, est difficile à atteindre.
