Abstract

Un peu plus de 25 ans après l'adoption de la Convention sur la diversité biologique (CDB, 1992), 15000 scientifiques nous avertissent sur l'état catastrophique du monde, notamment sur la destruction de la biodiversité – la 6ème extinction – provoquées par nos modes de production, de consommation et d'échanges (Ripple et al., 2017). Afin d'éviter une misère globale et une perte massive de biodiversité, les auteurs de ce manifeste nous exhortent à mettre en œuvre des alternatives environnementales plus justes et plus durables que les pratiques économiques actuelles (business as usual). Cet appel réinterroge le rôle que pourraient jouer les alternatives au commerce conventionnel, dont le commerce équitable (désormais CE), vis-à-vis de ces enjeux environnementaux.
