Abstract

La croissance américaine a fortement accéléré au cours du premier semestre 2018, entraînant l'économie vers une phase de haut de cycle. Cette dynamique est largement alimentée par l'orientation expansionniste de la politique économique aux États-Unis. En particulier, les timulus budgétaire voté par l'administration Trump se traduit par une impulsion budgétaire de 1,5 point de PIB cette année et 1 point en 2019. L'embellie devrait donc se poursuivre, ce qui poussera les salaires et les prix à la hausse dans un contexte où le taux de chômage est passé sous 4 % depuis avril 2018. L'inflation sera par ailleurs accentuée par la hausse des droits de douanes imposée par les États-Unis sur les importations chinoises. Dans ces conditions, la Réserve fédérale normaliserait plus rapidement la politique monétaire. Avec la perspective d'un retour à davantage d'orthodoxie budgétaire, la croissance pourrait alors ralentir en 2020. [Premier paragraphe]
