Entretien avec Eric Verdeil sur la situation économique du Liban

Abstract

Le 7 mars dernier, le Liban a annoncé le premier défaut de paiement de son histoire. Plongés dans « la pire récession économique depuis 30 ans », les Libanais doivent faire face à un chômage élevé et à des politiques d'austérité drastiques. A l'automne 2019, les nouvelles taxes instaurées par le gouvernement de Saad Hariri ont provoqué la colère de la rue. Pour décrypter la crise économique libanaise, Les clés du Moyen-Orient ont interrogé le chercheur Eric Verdeil, spécialiste de géographie urbaine dont l'essentiel des recherches est mené au Liban.
