Abstract

En nous basant sur une approche ethnographique, nous avons exploré les expériences de consommation de personnes ayant recours aux organismes d'aide. Nos résultats mettent au jour la différence entre les expériences de consommation, non marchandes, au sein de ces organismes et d'autres, plus normalisées au sein de la sphère marchande. Les organismes d'aide apparaissent comme des espaces de consommation qui se situent à la marge du marché conventionnel et sont marqués par différentes contraintes, enclines à inscrire les personnes qui les fréquentent dans un statut de bénéficiaires. Ce dernier est négocié par nos répondants en s'appropriant des ressources symboliques et/ou matérielles disponibles dans les espaces contraints (la pauvreté), et marchands à travers la mobilisation de compétences et savoir-faire propres aux répondants, et qui conditionnent leurs possibilités de négociation dudit statut, et de leurs identités sociales dans la société de consommation.
