Abstract

L'histoire de la pensée économique dans le domaine de l'environnement est marquée par la naissance à la fin des années 1980 du courant d'économie écologique. Initialement, ce courant se voulait en opposition à l'économie de l'environnement et des ressources naturelles issues de l'analyse néo-classique. Toutefois, au fil du temps, les lignes de fracture entre ces deux courants sont devenues de plus en plus floues ; créant des passerelles entre les auteurs, les concepts, les méthodologies et les outils. L'objectif de cet article est d'analyser cette évolution en prenant appui sur une des controverses : l'évaluation monétaire de l'environnement. Cette controverse se manifeste plus particulièrement suite à la parution de l'article "The value of the world's ecosystem services and natural capital", publié dans la revue Nature en 1997 et porté par un des fondateurs du courant d'économie écologique, Robert Costanza.
