Abstract

While research on coopetition and its dynamics at inter-organizational and reticular levels flourish, research aimed at apprehending internal coopetition through the examination of the tensions sources and management, relating to it remain, to this day, quite rare. . Based on a qualitative study carried out around 24 semi-structured interviews with six alliances managers, this article aims to analyze the factors likely to cause coopetitive tensions between individuals and project teams within an organization. In addition to the sources of tensions identified, the article highlights mechanisms for managing these paradoxical tensions. This research provides an understanding of the concepts and aims to a fruitful dialogue and feeds other studies on the paradoxes of the tensions in internal coopetition.
