Abstract

Parmi les 17 000 saisonniers travaillant l'été dans l'hôtellerie-restauration, un sur cinq s'inscrit comme demandeur d'emploi à l' Agence Nationale Pour l'Emploi en Languedoc-Roussillon. Il s'agit plus particulièrement des hommes et des salariés les plus âgés. L'emploi saisonnier est la seule activité salariée de l'année et la seule source de revenus d'activité de leur ménage pour 70% d'entre eux. Pour cette population de chômeurs, l'emploi saisonnier semble répondre à au moins deux logiques d'emploi : une qui pourrait s'apparenter à un emploi saisonnier permanent, et l'autre plus hétérogène, caractérisant une population de salariés beaucoup plus mobile et fréquemment renouvelée. Divers indicateurs montrent que les chômeurs ont apprécié leur emploi durant la saison, un tiers d'entre eux envisagent de créer leur propre entreprise, le plus souvent, dans le secteur de l'hôtellerie-restauration.
