Abstract

The use of economic and monetary weapons is not a new development in international relations. However, the instruments of competition and competition, particularly in the private sector, do not in themselves constitute weapons. Liberal economists have even considered the generalisation of the market economy as a factor of peace. Today, however, the currency exerts dominating effects and the dollar is an instrument of power for the United States, even if it is not always well controllable. Marxist economists, mercantilists and neo-mercantilists highlight the violence of the currency, with its domination effects and the crises of the international financial system.
