Abstract

Le modèle du ménage producteur et consommateur, intégrant le rôle de la contrainte de crédit, est utilisé pour mettre en évidence les facteurs influençant la décision des producteurs indonésiens quant au choix du mode de cueillette des cerises de café. Le type de cueillette conditionne en effet la qualité du produit final, la cueillette sélective, par opposition à la cueillette non sélective, conduisant à un café de meilleure qualité. Les résultats théoriques suggèrent qu'une politique de prix différenciés selon la qualité du café n'est pas suffisante pour inciter un ménage à adopter une cueillette sélective lorsque ce dernier est rationné sur le crédit. Un modèle "Probit" dichotomique est ensuite estimé sur la base d'un échantillon de producteurs indonésiens de manière à quantifier l'impact des différents facteurs sur la probabilité du choix de la méthode de cueillette.
