Abstract

Les auteurs analysent les conséquences potentielles sur le marché mondial de la banane du compromis d'avril 2001, compromis qui met fin au conflit de la banane à l'Organisation mondiale du commerce (OMC). Après un rappel des principales phases du conflit depuis 1993, sont successivement présentés le contenu du compromis, le modèle utilisé et les résultats. L'attention est centrée sur la structure d'approvisionnement de l'Union européenne en distinguant les offres d'exportation des territoires communautaires, des pays ACP (Afrique-Caraïbes-Pacifique) et des pays de la zone dollar. Les auteurs évaluent également le droit de douane équivalent à la politique de quotas tarifaires (à l'horizon 2006, année où le régime de quotas devra être remplacé par une politique uniquement tarifaire).
