L'endettement des agriculteurs et ses limites

Abstract

Dans cet article, on cherche à déterminer le niveau d'endettement maximal qu'une exploitation agricole peut supporter sans mettre en cause sa pérennité. L'influence de la dimension économique et des résultats, celles de la phase d'accumulation et de l'orientation de production sont testées. L'analyse est menée sur la base des données du RICA pour 1982 et 1983. La charge d'endettement supportable est assez faible: elle croit avec la taille. Pour les petites et moyennes exploitations (moins de 350 000 francs de ventes) le taux d'endettement ne doit pas dépasser 25 pour cent. Pour les plus grandes (plus de 750 000 francs de ventes), il peut aller jusqu'à 50 pour cent. Ces résultats semblent valables quelle que soit l'orientation de production ou la phase d'accumulation de l'exploitation.
