Matching and stability of employment relationship in rural areas

Abstract

Une relative stabilité de la relation d'emploi prévaut dans les espaces ruraux en dépit de taux de salaire plus faibles que dans les espaces urbains. Le cadre théorique mobilisé est un modèle d'appariement avec prospection d'emploi dans lequel une dimension spatiale est introduite et une distinction urbain/rural opérée. Ainsi, on montre que le niveau et la répartition spatiale de l'offre et la demande de travail influencent la probabilité de changer d'emploi. Ceci permet de mettre en évidence que les différences de densité et de structure spatiale de l'offre et de la demande de travail entre les marchés ruraux et urbains du travail affectent le différentiel de probabilité de ré-emploi entre un travailleur rural et urbain. Un test effectué sur données françaises montre que la localisation en milieu rural affecte positivement le niveau d'ancienneté des salariés ruraux.
