Abstract

Le dispositif français de préretraite agricole, appliqué de 1992 à 1994 (et reconduit depuis), s'inscrit dans une longue tradition d'interventions sur les structures. On présente ici le bilan de cette politique ainsi que quelques éléments relatifs à son impact structurel. Au total, un peu plus de 40 000 agriculteurs (sur 125 000 éligibles) auront bénéficié de la mesure et libéré 1 300 000 ha qui auront servi principalement à conforter des exploitations existantes (souvent tenues par de jeunes installés). Facilitant l'adaptation des exploitations agricoles à la réforme de la PAC, la préretraite risque cependant de réduire les disponibilités foncières dans les années à venir.
