Abstract

L'agriculture biologique, autrefois très marginale, prend une place croissante. Possède-t-elle toutes les qualités écologiques que ses adeptes lui attribuent ? Les mesures ne sont pas faciles, faute de données statistiques adaptées. Ses effets sur l'environnement sont à priori positifs ; c'est vrai en polyculture-élevage mais des problèmes d'excès de cuivre, par exemple, peuvent apparaître. Sur la santé de l'homme... rien n'est prouvé mais l'image est bonne. Sur la durabilité et la rentabilité des exploitations... la situation, souvent favorable au bio, risque d'évoluer très vite, les prix de vente des produits bio ayant tendance à se rapprocher de ceux des produits normaux et la concurrence à s'aviver avec des producteurs étrangers ; à moins que les soutiens publics soient renforcés.
