Abstract

La discipline a évolué sous l'influence du développement de l'informatique et des statistiques, mais aussi de la "demande sociale", et des débats d'idées. Alors que la période entre les deux guerres mondiales avait été marquée par un véritable déclin de la pensée économique appliquée à l'agriculture, le débat est devenu très vif dans les années 60, favorisé par de nouvelles conditions institutionnelles. Les années 70 ont vu se développer la problématique marxiste, où les Français ont eu un rôle original. Depuis le milieu des années 80, la production française est bien plus conformiste, et reste marquée par des rapports difficiles avec les "économistes généraux" qui ont tendance à ne pas voir dans l'agriculture et le monde rural un objet d'étude spécifique.
