Abstract

L'agriculture fait souvent l'objet de critiques en matière d'environnement, de qualité et de durabilité et beaucoup soulignent la nécessité qu'elle réponde mieux aux attentes de la société. Mais ces injonctions prennent peu en compte la position de ce secteur dans la chaîne agroalimentaire, notamment l'influence croissante de l'aval et ses répercussions économiques, environnementales, sanitaires et de qualité nutritionnelle. L'auteur analyse en particulier l'importance de la grande distribution et de l'aval dans l'évolution de la production et des produits agricoles, la position économique du secteur agricole dans la chaîne agroalimentaire et enfin le poids croissant de la grande distribution et ses retombées.
