Abstract

L'objectif est de préciser les conditions d'adoption des technologies de l'information et de la communication (TIC) en s'intéressant à l'influence des déterminants liés aux structures organisationnelles et spatiales des firmes. Pour cela, les auteurs réalisent une étude économétrique à partir de données individuelles d'entreprises portant sur près de 5 000 firmes industrielles françaises. Ces données renseignent sur l'adoption par les firmes de réseaux de communication, sur différents traits de leurs modes interne et externe d'organisation ainsi que sur leur géographie de localisation. On examine tout d'abord les conditions générales de la diffusion des TIC au niveau de l'ensemble du système productif français, puis on teste l'existence de spécificités sectorielles dans leur adoption. Au-delà des déterminants traditionnellement examinés dans les études empiriques sur la capacité d'innovation des firmes, les résultats montrent que les facteurs organisationnels et spatiaux exercent une influence significative sur la probabilité d'adoption des TIC. Ils permettent ensuite de confirmer l'existence de comportements sectoriels différents notamment vis-à-vis de la localisation et de l'organisation spatiale des firmes.
