Abstract

Cet article présente une analyse de la concentration géographique des productions agricoles au niveau communautaire. Les auteurs y examinent, à partir de régressions économétriques, dans quelle mesure les coûts de production agricoles et l'accès aux marchés conditionnent l'évolution relative de la localisation des productions. Ils montrent ainsi que la localisation des productions, soutenues dans le cadre de la politique agricole commune, est indépendante de ces déterminants. Pour tous les produits non soutenus, la position géographique des bassins de production par rapport à la localisation de la demande communautaire conditionne l'évolution de la production. Ainsi, au niveau de l'Union européenne, pour les productions non soutenues, on se situe dans un schéma de concentration géographique conditionnée par la localisation de la demande, plutôt que dans un scénario de spécialisation des espaces productifs selon le jeu d'avantages comparatifs purement agricoles.
