Abstract

Les fondements théoriques de l'économie internationale ne permettent pas de trancher quant au lien existant entre ouverture aux échanges et croissance économique. D'un point de vue empirique ce lien existe bien, et pas seulement dans le cas des pays riches, comme le montre l'exemple des "dragons" de l'Asie du Sud-Est ou des grands pays émergents comme la Chine ou le Brésil, et même l'Inde. Mais cette relation peut s'inverser dans le cas de pays défavorisés où les avantages de l'exportation sont concentrés dans des enclaves sectorielles et géographiques, ce qui ne permet pas à la demande intérieure de profiter de l'expansion des exportations.
