Abstract

Dans cet article, les auteurs s'appuient sur le modèle du ménage producteur pour analyser la formation et les inégalités du revenu des ménages d'agriculteurs en utilisant un raccordement réalisé par l'Insee entre le Réseau d'information comptable agricole (Rica) et des données fiscales (1991 et 1997). Les disparités du revenu global des ménages sont moins importantes que les disparités de revenus agricoles : l'activité extérieure compense ainsi un handicap structurel de l'exploitation. Ce facteur n'est toutefois plus déterminant sur la formation des revenus globaux : les différences de structures agricoles entre les ménages avec ou sans activité extérieure sont faibles et le revenu des ménages pluri-actifs est donc plus important ; il est également plus stable. La situation locale du marché du travail ou la préférence du conjoint pour un travail extérieur deviennent des éléments déterminants de la formation des revenus des agriculteurs.
