Abstract

As an amenity, the landscape may be considered a resource for regional devlopement. Using the economic base theoritical framework, this analysis aims at assessing such a potential. After identifying a landscape economic system wherein job are classified according to their alleged sensitivity to amenties, the empirical analysis proceeds in two steps: first, a cluster analysis of french counties; second an estimation of amentity-related employment multiplier in three study areas in Auvergne and Rhone-Alpes regions. Resultats tend to show, first broad landscape regions with corresponding economic sector and second that spending behavior is related to lanscape type.
