Abstract

L'objet de cet article est de mettre en évidence les relations de complémentarité ou de substituabilité entre les actifs monétaires en France. Plus précisément, il fournit une estimation quantitative du degré de substituabilité existant entre les divers actifs monétaires. Le modèle retenu est issu de la théorie microéconomique du consommateur. Il s'agit d'un modèle de demande dérivée dans lequel les actifs monétaires sont considérés comme des biens durables procurant à leurs détenteurs des flux de services monétaires et entrent comme argument dans la fonction d'utilité. On utilise pour approximer le modèle de demande une forme fonctionnelle flexible de type translog. Les élasticités obtenues sont conformes à la théorie de la demande. On observe un faible degré de substituabilité (voire, même une complémentarité) entre les groupes d'actifs monétaires retenus.
