Abstract

La question du statut scientifique du domaine des SIM (système d'information pour le management) se pose depuis plusieurs années, autour des questions suivantes: peut-on avoir une approche scientifique des problèmes de SIM? sur quel(s) modèle(s) de connaissance les recherches s'appuient-elles? comment valide-t-on les connaissances? Coincée entre les évolutions technologiques et les pratiques, la recherche SIM est éclatée entre trois pôles: recherche expérimentale, propositions théoriques, développement outils. Le rejet du modèle de la "science normale" (reposant sur un paradigme unique, permettant une définition précise, et donc limitative, des recherches pertinentes et méthodes adéquates) ne doit pas signifier l'évacuation des questions de validation. Il ne peut y avoir de démarche scientifique sans confrontation avec le réel. Seule cette recherche de preuve permet d'intégrer les deux dimensions du domaine, qui relève à la fois de la technique et des sciences sociales.
