Abstract

The economic status of military spending has been the subject of much controversy between those who believe that national defence provides economic security that indirectly benefits the economy and those who consider it a burden. It is true that econometric studies present only one element of military expenditure, its expenditure aspect, without highlighting the protection itself. It is a public service, the utility of which is difficult to estimate. Military spending may be unnecessary, giving the impression of fake security. But without deterrence, predation has always been a way for a country to enrich itself at the expense of others, in particular by the threat or the exercise of war. On this point, it is obviously difficult to know exactly the service rendered to the Nation.
