Improving the quality of relationships with stakeholders to increase the NPOs' impact: the mediating role of students' contribution[Améliorer la qualité de relation avec les parties prenantes pour accroître l’impact des associations : le rôle médiateur de la contribution chez les étudiants]

Context - French GVOs continue to grow in importance in society and economy, while they are turning to private funds. New requirements in terms of governance are also being imposed to them. Objectives and originality - In order to support GVOs in their evaluation, this research proposes to understand the role of the relationship with stakeholders in defining the GVOs' impact. To date, this approach has mainly been theoretical. Approach - Stakeholder theory and the frameworks derived from it have led to a questionnaire and an analysis using structural equation modeling. Results - The perceived impact by stakeholders (here, students) is explained both by the quality of the relationship with the GVO and the degree to which they contribute to its success. Differences are to be noted depending on the stakeholder studied. Academic implications - This research proposes a reciprocal definition of relationship quality, being one of the dimensions of impact. Managerial implications - GVOs can rely on the stakeholders who contribute most to their impact to develop and justify their activity.
