Abstract

From an international point of view, the emergence of Africa questions the location choices in this area. Based on the Uppsala model and the organizational learning theory, the article questions the role of the experience of SMEs located in Africa and the influence of the result of a first location on the decision of a second. The study of a french SME shows that a solid and important experiential base leads companies to pursue and expand its geographical locations. Our results reinforce the relevance of the organizational aspirations model and tend to confirm that initial success limits the development of local knowledge by encouraging decision-makers to simplify the decision-making process.
