Abstract

A partir d'une analyse de 70 alliances conclues par des coopératives de transformation de la région Bretagne (ouest de la France) sur la dernière décennie (1987 - 1999), les auteurs montrent qu'elles permettent de pallier des déficiences structurelles à court terme et correspondent souvent à des stratégies défensives. Elles ne sont que rarement utilisées comme levier de stratégies offensives d'innovation technologique ou d'internationalisation, et leurs objectifs en termes de diversification restent généralement modestes. Cela laisse à penser que les coopératives n'utilisent pas pleinement le potentiel de développement offert par les alliances contrairement à d'autres secteurs industriels
