This article presents a model of market dynamics which is being empirically tested. Market structural analysis, then historical and prospective analysis are used to identify the variables which interact in major changes of the market system on four dimensions : « context », « strategies », « structure » and « value ». Based on system analysis, this model is cross fertilizing several disciplines : industrial economics and history, marketing, business strategy and prospective. At the firm's SBU leve! can be used to give direction to the strategic environment scanning system and make it more effective.
