Abstract

Comment suivre l'émergence d'un phénomène organisationnel ? Comment en décrire le maintien et la continuité à travers les pratiques quotidiennes ? Les approches processuelles visent à répondre à ces questions en suivant l'organisation dans le temps. D'une façon générale, elles se distinguent avant tout des approches par la variance (Langley, 1999 ; Mohr, 1982). Ces dernières consistent en effet à étudier la relation entre des variables dépendantes et indépendantes à un instant donné, alors que les approches processuelles visent à comprendre le déroulement des phénomènes organisationnels. Si les premiers travaux empiriques processuels ont été conduits dans les années 1980, les formalisations théoriques et méthodologiques n'ont été principalement développées que dans les années 1990. Parce qu'elles sont centrées sur l'émergence et l'évolution des phénomènes organisationnels, ces approches permettent d'appréhender de nombreuses questions auxquelles chercheurs et praticiens sont aujourd'hui confrontés, de l'émergence de nouvelles pratiques de travail et de collaboration aux dynamiques organisationnelles .
