Abstract

Penseur du capitalisme et de la monnaie, Michel Aglietta est un chercheur, un pédagogue et un expert reconnu des économistes, des historiens et des anthropologues, mais aussi des politiciens et des syndicalistes de toute tendance. Né dans une famille modeste d'immigrés italiens en 1938 à Chambéry, il intègre l'École polytechnique en 1959, puis entre à l'Institut national de la statistique et des études économiques (INSEE) afin de participer à « l'ardente obligation » de la planification. Il contribue à élaborer une modélisation à partir des données de la comptabilité nationale permettant d'envisager aisément des variantes de politiques publiques ; celles-ci sont présentées lors des commissions du plan où sont réunis les représentants syndicaux, patronaux et de l'administration. Le plan constitue alors l'organe de gestation des compromis sociaux et économiques où sont notamment discutées et décidées les modalités de répartition des fruits de la croissance.
