Abstract

L'objectif de ce chapitre est de réaliser un premier bilan du coût de la dépendance à La Réunion. Si un tel bilan existe au niveau national (Renoux et al., 2011), aucune étude n'est encore disponible au niveau régional. Compte tenu des fortes disparités territoriales, réaliser un tel bilan à La Réunion offre une double perspective intéressante. D'une part, cela permet de réaliser des comparaisons avec l'économie nationale et de mieux mesurer la spécificité du vieillissement réunionnais. D'autre part, dans un cadre prospectif, cela permet également de mieux mesurer l'importance des problèmes de financement qui seront posés à un niveau collectif.Le chapitre est organisé autour de trois parties. La première partie revient sur la genèse du compte de la dépendance et sur la manière dont il a été estimé au niveau national. La seconde partie propose de calculer ce compte en introduisant des spécificités réunionnaises. Enfin, la troisième partie s'appuie sur une étude publiée par l'Insee en 2014 pour présenter des éléments d'analyse prospective ainsi que pour discuter du poids financier supplémentaire du coût de la dépendance qui devra être financé.
