Abstract

Tensions occur in collaborative innovation projects. The aim of this paper is to highlight that tensions, in front-end of these projects, have an interest in terms of management. We use activity theory to show that these tensions hold their springs of historical-cultural elements specific to each organization. By relying on a case study (the collaborative innovation project SIRUS), we underline a method of identifying tensions, and then explain how they can, in some circumstances, represent a managerial lever.
