Lois bêtabinomiales et distributions des contacts

Abstract

Les lois bêtabinomiales sont largement utilisées et ont fait leurs preuves depuis de nombreuses années dans les modèles de médiaplanning. L'objet de cet article est d'en faire une présentation " intuitive ", et principalement d'introduire la représentation (p, τ) (audience-dispersion) qui est plus explicite que la classique représentation par les coefficients (a, b). Après avoir introduit les bêtabinomiales par le paradigme des urnes, on en rappelle certaines propriétés classiques en montrant comment elles se formalisent dans la représentation (p, τ) et on présente plusieurs applications en médiaplanning. On montrera comment l'utilisation de bêtabinomiales peut accélérer l'évaluation des performances d'un plan média, notamment dans les algorithmes d'optimisation. On utilisera le support des bêtabinomiales pour redresser en GRP la distribution des contacts d'un plan média et on présentera le principe de l'utilisation des bêtabinomiales dans la probabilisation des données d'audience tel qu'il est mis en œuvre dans la méthode de probabilisation radio adoptée en 1998 par l'ensemble du marché publicitaire français.
