Abstract

Si l'idée d'un retour du religieux reste largement présente et ce, dans le tiers monde, la poussée des fondamentalismes se poursuit en particulier chez les jeunes, l'observation des jeunes Français donne à l'inverse l'impression d'une sortie de la religion. Du moins, d'une sortie de la religion institutionnelle, car la croyance glisse plutôt vers le probabilisme et vers les para-sciences que vers l'incroyance. La déchristianisation, une notion que l'on croyait obsolète, prend une telle ampleur que les explications habituelles en termes de sécularisation, de bricolage post-moderne ou de recomposition du religieux paraissent routes trop courtes.
