Oléagineux, l'Afrique, troisième importateur mondial

Abstract

L'Afrique reste un producteur notable de graines oléagineuses et d'huiles végétales, avec des parts du tonnage mondial respectivement 3,4% et 4,5%, mais ses productions locales, surtout concentrées dans quelques pays, sont tout à fait insuffisantes pour satisfaire les besoins d'une population en forte augmentation. Ainsi avec 2,5 millions de tonnes ses importations nettes sont égales à plus de 70% de sa production. Certains courants d'exportation de graines et huiles, principalement à destination de l'Union européenne, demeurent. Cependant le solde extérieur de l'Afrique avec cette zone reste largement déficitaire.
