Abstract

Alors que l'alimentation des monogastriques et des vaches laitières dans l'Union européenne recourt à des quantités croissantes de matières riches en protéines du fait de l'intensification de ces élevages, les productions européennes de protéagineux et oléagineux sont globalement en recul, notamment du fait de l'Agenda 2000. Cette situation de dépendance par rapport au tourteau de soja d'importation a, par ailleurs, été aggravée par l'interdiction des farines animales. D'autres formes d'élevage et d'alimentation des animaux, plus extensives, permettraient de mieux valoriser les ressources locales, qu'il s'agisse des fourrages ou des protéines communautaires.
