Le problème de la qualité du café indonésien : une interprétation micro-économique

Abstract

Un objectif du gouvernement indonésien est d'améliorer la qualité du café produit en Indonésie. La mauvaise qualité du café provient des habitudes de récolte des producteurs, les fruits étant souvent cueillis avant maturité. Deux raisons expliquent ce comportement : l'absence d'officialisation auprès du producteur de la politique nationale engagée d'incitation à la qualité et l'existence d'imperfections sur le marché du capital. Dans cet article, les auteurs proposent un cadre d'analyse, basé sur un modèle du ménage, qui permet de mettre en évidence les facteurs qui expliquent le comportement micro-économique de cueillette des producteurs de café indonésiens. Des estimations économétriques permettent de quantifier les effets des différents facteurs et de mettre en évidence l'importance du crédit dans le comportement de cueillette.
