Abstract

This paper estimates trade costs for services using a gravity model for imports of services to 22 European countries from 43 partner countries for 17 service sectors covering the period 2005 to 2012. It analyses trade in terms of service characteristics in addition to traditional gravity variables. The need for proximity between supplier and client continues to depress trade in services, albeit less so than in the past.
