Abstract

L 'analyse des nouvelles mobilités touristiques a donné lieu à l'émergence d'un concept, l'itinérance touristique, encore mal défini et stabilisé. Dans un sens très large, l'itinérance touristique s'oppose à un tourisme localisé sur une destination. Cette définition large a souvent été réduite à des pratiques de mobilités douces, voire à l'écotourisme ou au slow tourism. Le cadre de référence choisi oriente bien évidemment les stratégies touristiques à mettre en œuvre afin de capter cette clientèle et développer des territoires souvent situés dans les interstices des grandes destinations touristiques. La nature multiforme de l'itinérance touristique la rend peu observable statistiquement. Il est donc complexe de mettre en place des politiques de développement territorial adaptées. Sa croissance récente lui a valu d'être intégrée aux trente mesures stratégiques pour le tourisme en France définies par les Assises nationales du tourisme.
