Abstract

Bien que l'engagement des politiques publiques en faveur du télétravail ne soit pas récent, les aménageurs français ont recours aujourd'hui encore au déploiement de télécentres quand une nouvelle vague « d'objets » voit déjà le jour (espaces de « coworking », « FabLabs », etc.). À partir d'une étude empirique menée dans le Cantal, cet article interroge les effets des télécentres sur l'espace dans les territoires isolés à dominante rurale en France. L'analyse de l'offre et des usages questionne les perspectives et les limites de ces outils dont le succès ou l'échec semblent fonction de nombreux facteurs interdépendants : stratégies d'acteurs et imbrication de leurs actions à multiples échelles, offres techniques variées, différents publics utilisateurs, usages ou non-usage et facteurs extérieurs. Certains des facteurs apparaissent alors plus structurants, notamment ceux liés à la localisation, quand d'autres, plus socio-techniques, produisent quelques exceptions.
