Abstract

L'Unesco a labellisé, en avril 2011, un projet de création, à Montpellier, d'une chaire et d'un réseau international sur le thème « Alimentations du monde ». Le programme Unitwin (University Twinning and Networking) et Chaires Unesco a été lancé en 1992 et redéfini en 2009. Son objectif est le renforcement des capacités des institutions d'enseignement supérieur et de recherche par la coopération triangulaire Nord-Sud et Sud-Sud. Un réseau Unitwin fédère des universités et centres de recherche sur un thème partagé. Une chaire Unesco est une structure localisée composée d'un titulaire (avec parfois un co-titulaire pour assurer une représentation Nord-Sud) et d'une équipe pédagogique mono ou pluri-institutionnelle. Unitwin et Chaire Unesco sont des labels attribués par l'Unesco. La plupart des chaires Unesco animent également un réseau Unitwin. Les activités développées par les chaires Unesco/Unitwin sont constituées du triptyque formation-recherche-transfert auquel l'Unesco ajoute un rôle de Think Tank destiné à alimenter les débats d'idées. Il s'agit de structurer des pôles de compétences d'envergure internationale. En septembre 2011, il y avait 715 chaires Unesco et 69 réseaux Unitwin établis dans plus de 830 institutions de 131 pays.
