Le tourisme rural en Aveyron : l'affirmation d'une nouvelle activité économique

Abstract

L'espace rural, qui couvre les quatre-cinquièmes de l'Hexagone, n'enregistre que 26 à 28 % des nuitées touristiques et ne reçoit que 22% des dépenses. Peu fréquenté et sous-valorisé, le tourisme vert a pu faire figure de parent pauvre. Cependant, depuis la fin des années 80, les fréquentations croissantes de ces espaces attestent de leur nouvel attrait. Et les records de fréquentation constatés au cours de l'été 1991 ont mis en exergue leurs vertus récréatives. Dans ce contexte, le tourisme peut donc devenir un précieux outil de développement pour certaines campagnes en difficulté. L'exemple de l'Aveyron est représentatif de l'évolution actuelle du tourisme vert, de l'émergence de ce secteur à son insertion dans l'espace d'accueil.
