Abstract

The sources of information that are to be considered in standardizing the methodology for evaluating university performance in Spain, are specifically from the US. Data production on research available from the Research ViceRectorates and the offices for transfer of research results, provides with an opportunity to discuss the equivalence between the investments in research and development and the production of scientific papers, and to arise the question on the university-business dialogue, under the assumptions of reflexivity which characterizes the documentation methods. Research evaluation have been modified by citation analysis, and the Spanish experience associated to the national higher education quality assessment commission, after Ministerial Decree of 5 February 1990, has become a controversial issue in science. By using data contained in the database Social Science Citation índex the findings from the Economic Analysis Department at the University of Valencia are examined.
