Abstract

Le Royaume-Uni a connu depuis 1992 une croissance soutenue (en moyenne de 2,9 % l'an contre 1,8 % pour les pays de la zone euro), qui a contribué à maintenir une inflation relativement élevée, un certain déficit commercial et, depuis 1997, une livre surévaluée. Au printemps 1999, la croissance cherche un nouveau souffle. Les exportations se sont repliées sous l'effet du ralentissement du commerce mondial et de l'appréciation passée de la livre. L'activité s'est contractée dans l'industrie et s'est infléchie dans les services (...).
