La prévention de l'absentéisme du personnel soignant en gériatrie : du savoir académique à l'action managériale

In French hospitals, absenteeism generates important cost, quality and rosters elaboration problems. Preventing absenteeism is therefore a major stake for hospitals HRM. The literature review reveals that academic research meanly focus on absenteism factors and little attention is paid to prevention practices. In order to elaborate a link between academic research and management practices, in this article, we propose a typology of prevention practices. We start with a literature review on the factors of absenteeism, then we analyse the professional literature on prevention practices and propose a typology. We use this typology to analyse the data collected through a questionnaire survey achevied in 13 geriatrics departments of public hospitals. We finally propose 4 categories of absenteeism prevention practices.
