Abstract

En dépit de leurs différences, les sociétés française et japonaise sont actuellement confrontées à une série d'interrogations dont le commun dénominateur est de mettre en jeu, de part et d'autre, les rapports intergénérationnels. Remise en cause des modalités, privées et publiques, de la prise en charge des personnes âgées ; concurrence croissante des différentes classes d'âge sur le marché du travail ; mobilisation soutenue des parents pour faciliter une " entrée dans la vie " de leurs enfants rendue plus problématique ; crainte que l'accélération du rythme du changement social ne mette en cause la transmission des savoirs, savoir-faire et savoir-vivre sociaux : tels sont quelques-uns des phénomènes abordés dans cet ouvrage, dans une perspective comparatiste. Chemin faisant, il contribue à la construction du concept de rapports sociaux de génération, appréhendé dans sa polarité de solidarité et de conflit, en étant articulé avec ceux de rapports sociaux de sexe et de rapports de classe.
