Abstract

En France, 60 000 décès annuels sont liés à la consommation de tabac. La lutte contre le tabagisme constitue une des préoccupations les plus importantes en santé publique et est un des principaux objectifs du plan de lutte contre le cancer mis en place par le gouvernement. Cette mortalité pourrait être considérablement réduite grâce à des actions de prévention et d'aide au sevrage. Sont abordés dans cette deuxième édition des thèmes tels que : • la fabrication et la composition des cigarettes, l'enjeu économique que cette industrie représente, • la biologie de la nicotine, • le tabagisme 'féminin' en France et en Europe avec notamment les incidences du tabagisme passif sur le fœtus et le nouveau-né, • l'approche comportementale du sevrage, • le rôle du généraliste dans la lutte contre le tabagisme et notamment dans la prévention auprès des enfants et des adolescents, • le tabagisme sur le lieu de travail, • les traitements du tabagisme reconnus efficaces et l'enjeu social que représente la prévention et le sevrage. Les médecins généralistes. Les spécialistes d'organes, les médecins du travail, de médecine préventive et de santé publique. Les étudiants des 2e et 3e cycles des études médicales. Les personnels de santé : infirmières, diététiciennes, kinésithérapeutes, éducateurs.
