Abstract

Information and communication technologies are shaping internal organizations and industrial sectors creating new links between physical trades and information based relations. This paper plans to characterize interfirm relationships evolution within value added chains and business economic models emerging on the internet. Observations from case studies show that such evolutions are not simply substituting older structures. They are converting key-assets (location, information, technology) into central industrial functions. Taking account of the diversity of strategies and business models, one can characterize several organizational shapes for internet activities and e-commerce.
